  6. Competition Secretary’s report,  presented by Richard Sayer. He reported on the upcoming WHS changes on 1st April and our hope that the Golf Club’s computer system would enable mixed tee entry. How that would impact on the competition divisions is yet to be understood. He commented on the increased uptake for the Eclectic competition and encouraged more to participate next winter.
  7. Treasurer’s report, presented by David Boys. Picking up on the comments made at the last AGM the committee have agreed to try to maintain the account balances around £2000 being close to one year’s membership subscriptions.  To achieve this the Vets clothing and lunches such as the AGM and Christmas will be subsidised. The accounts were circulated with the minutes and it was reported that Charles Harrison had been asked to scrutinise them and had no significant queries.
  8. Updates to the Vets Rules.  These had been circulated with the minutes and were unanimously adopted with an amendment proposed by Tom Bishop and seconded by Ray Dennett. The new rules will be posted on the website.
  9. Outgoing Captain’s report. Richard thanked everyone for making his year so enjoyable.  He said he was greatly encouraged by the recruitment of many new members. On the matches, no home defeats and only one fixture (Copthorne) where we were bettered on the overall score. One highlight was beating Worthing home and away to secure the match trophy which he presented to Dave Bunting to try to retain this year.  His personal high spot was Chartham Park where he and his partner Graham Davey ran out 7 and 6 winners both playing 6 under their handicap.  Richard was presented with a sombrero which he presented to Graham to take back to CP this year. He concluded by saying that the Vets were in safe hands with the incoming Captain.
  10. Handover Richard presented Dave Bunting with the gavel, plate and his jacket.
  11. Incoming Captain’s Address.  Dave said how he was looking forward to his year and asked that members support him especially in the matches where last year 75 members participated in the 36 matches. His Captain’s day which he promises will be fun is on 10th July. He reported how he had been a member for 36 years.  How proud he was to follow in his father’s footsteps being Captain in 1997.  He concluded with a short story.
