Competition Guidelines

GENERAL

All members are encouraged to maintain an ‘active’ handicap.  All members (including Flex) can enter our stableford and medal competitions and win whatever prize monies are on offer, however only those with an ‘active’ handicap can win the Trophy. Active for our purposes means to have submitted a minimum of 6 cards in a rolling 12 month period of which a minimum of 3 must be competition cards.

MATCHPLAY

These rules apply to all SINGLES, FOURBALL BETTER BALL and FOURSOMES Knockout competitions

  1. Members are required to have an ‘active’ handicap (see above) to be able to enter knockout competitions.
  2. Each round will have a completion date which will finish at 13.00 on that day. No extensions will be granted to this. If either side is unable to start play by that time then they should give a bye to their opponents as soon as possible.
  3. Both sides are responsible for initiating the date/time arrangements for the match.
  4. If a date/time cannot be agreed then The Club Diary Competition Rules, Rule 3.i will apply. ( Page 7 in the 2019/20 diary). Basically this states that the side that appears available to play at the closing time will take the match. ( Get witness to your presence ( eg the Pro )). If both sides appear then the match must be played.
  5. If the match has not been played and neither side has appeared on the completion date, then the Competition Secretary will determine the winner by a COIN TOSS.
  6. All first round losers in the SINGLES knockout competition will be placed in a second draw to play for the Plate.

General

Matches will be played using current full handicaps.

The draw will be a straightforward draw of all competitors without regard to handicaps or any form of seeding.

Any disputes to be referred to the Competition Secretary, Richard Sayer.
